Can my pet fly between Turkey and Berlin with someone else?
Yes, with a flight volunteer or someone you know. At check-in the documents matter most, so the pet passport and vaccinations must be in order. If you cannot be at the airport, the person flying may need a power of attorney.
At check-in, staff usually look at the documents more than at who owns the animal. A form is filled in with the animal's details, and the vaccination dates in the pet passport are checked. The pet passport, rabies antibody (titre) test and required vet documents must be complete.
If you cannot be at the airport, it is best to give the person flying with your pet a notarised power of attorney. Temporarily transferring the microchip registration to them can also help.
If the airline has issued you a ticket, there is space for the animal on the plane. Still, call the airline and confirm in advance.
