How do I buy and cancel a Deutschland-Ticket for my visiting family?

The Deutschland-Ticket is a monthly subscription. If you do not cancel by the 10th of the month, it renews automatically for the next month, so you can cancel straight after buying. Some apps take credit cards, while DB asks for an IBAN.

You can buy a Deutschland-Ticket for a visitor too. It is sold through apps such as Mopla and by DB (Deutsche Bahn).

Cancelling is the key point. If you do not cancel by the 10th of the month, the subscription carries on into the next month and you are charged. So you do not forget, you can cancel as soon as you buy it: the ticket stays valid until the end of that month.

How you can pay depends on the seller. A few apps let you pay by credit card, while DB asks for an IBAN (bank account).

If you cannot print the ticket, you can load it onto your own phone and show it there at a ticket check.
