What is a Bildungsgutschein, and does it also cover childcare costs during a course?
A Bildungsgutschein is a voucher with which the Employment Agency or Jobcenter pays for vocational training. Course fees, travel costs and childcare costs during the course can be covered. You need to talk to your adviser first.
A Bildungsgutschein (education voucher) is support from the Arbeitsagentur (Employment Agency) or the Jobcenter for further vocational training and retraining.
Who can get it: Unemployed people, people at risk of unemployment, people receiving support from the Jobcenter and, in some cases, employees who want to develop their skills. Who gets it is decided in an advice meeting.
What can be covered: Course fees and necessary learning materials, work clothing and exam fees, travel costs, childcare costs during the course, and accommodation and meals if the course is far away.
How: First talk to your adviser at your Arbeitsagentur or Jobcenter. If approved, you get a Bildungsgutschein. It's only valid for approved (zugelassen) courses. You can search for courses on the "mein NOW" portal.
The page doesn't say how much is paid for childcare. Ask your adviser.
