My newborn's eye is red and inflamed. Can I use eye ointment?
Not without asking a doctor. Before you use medicated eye ointment on a newborn, speak to a Kinderarzt (paediatrician).
If your baby's eye is red and has discharge, call the paediatrician's practice. If it is closed, call 116117 (the out-of-hours medical service) for help.
