My family doctor (Hausarzt) is on holiday. What can I do for a referral or check-up?
When your family doctor is on leave, there is usually a covering doctor (Vertretung). This doctor can also write you a referral (Überweisung).
The covering doctor (Vertretungsarzt) is usually not in the same practice but at another one nearby. The practice's phone message, door or website may say who is covering.
