Can I see a family doctor in Turkey if I am not resident there?

You can go as a guest patient, but it is up to the doctor whether they see you. If they will not, state hospitals also see uninsured patients for an examination fee.

Some family doctors see guest patients and others do not. If a relative, such as your mother, is registered with a family doctor, you can go with her and be seen there too.

If you have an address in Turkey, such as a holiday home, you can give it and submit a written application (dilekçe). This can get you a family doctor assigned. If you want a particular health centre (sağlık ocağı) and doctor, say so in the application.

If no family doctor will see you, you can go to a state hospital. You pay the examination fee yourself, and at one hospital it has been over 400 TL.

These routes are useful if you want routine tests in Turkey that insurance in Germany does not pay for, such as iron or zinc.
