How much does a dental filling cost in Germany, and does insurance cover it?
Statutory insurance usually covers only amalgam fillings, and for other fillings you pay the difference. A white (composite) filling can cost you between 70 and 150 euros. Supplementary dental insurance can pay this back.
The price depends on the tooth and the size of the cavity. It starts at about 100 euros on average, and back teeth are sometimes more expensive. Amounts paid range from just over 70 to 150 euros, for example 80, 90 or 100 euros.
With supplementary dental insurance (Zahnzusatzversicherung) you get all or part of the cost back. Depending on the plan, a filling may cost you nothing at all.
Prices vary from practice to practice, so ask a few dentists for a cost estimate (Kostenvoranschlag).
